Who is Att.Fatma BENLI YALCIN?

Fatma BENLİ has elected as AK Party Member of Parliament of İstanbul in the 25th and 26th Legislative Periods. Including her membership to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, she served as the deputy president of the Commission on Human Rights Inquiry. In addition, she served as a deputy president of the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse. She was also a member of the NATO Parliamentarians Assembly.

As a Lawyer and mediator, Ms Benli is a Graduate of Istanbul University’s Law Faculty and as a result of the Headscarf ban during the 28th February period in Turkey, she could eventually complete her masters degree in 2015. She is currently pusuing her Pd.D in private law at Marmara University.

In respect to her 10-year valuable studies on human rights, Ms Benli was rewarded and chosen among. “The 500 Most Influential Muslims in the World” in a publication released by Georgetown University.

In 2012, she was also appointed as a member of the National Human Rights Institution of Turkeyby the Decree Of Council of Ministers.

In the year 2013, Ms. Benli Served as a group secretary to the Black Sea Region Group of Committee of Wise People, which is comprised of 63 members who are expected to improve the climate for peaceful relations in Turkey.

For three terms, She was also a representative of the international Jurists Union (IJU).

Having served for över 15 years in various foundations focusing on women, law and international law, she has deJivered a countless number of presentations on human rights both in Turkey and abroad including p/aces such as CEDAW to the Harvard Law Faculty. She has published books and articles vvith concentration on the public sphere, freedom of expression, European Court of Human Rights United National Convention to Eliminate Ali forms of Discrimination Against Women, violence against'women, honor killings, property regimes and most importantly human rights.
